Fluttering My Feelings (Yu-Ji’s Special)

Anddd we’re back to another review of Fluttering Feelings. We received another special chapter from Ssamba and luckily this time, is a chapter we can read and not a chapter we can’t. I was kind of half excited and half stressed when waiting for this week chapter because I want to know how Seol-A will react to the ex but I also don’t want to know about No-Rae’s past with her ex. Now I don’t need to worry because I’m getting the past of the Seol-A’s ex, Yu-Ji. Well it will be Seol-A’s ex if one of the girl makes a step.

So let’s get started but before we start, the usual, I will like to pay tributes and give credits where they are due. First off, thank you Ssamba for blessing us with this great manhwa, which I’m sure we’ll spend countless of hours reading and fangirling over the 2 characters. I also want to thank the translators and staffs for doing an awesome job in translating and uploading because without you guys, I wouldn’t know shit of what I’m reading and experience this awesomeness romance.

Okay, let’s get started.

Oh, did I mention that this is a yuri manhwa? Well, it is.

Spoiler Alert!!

x-1

x-2

We’re starting with a flashback 2 years ago in Australia.

x-3

And at this time Yu-Ji is already dead.

x-4              x-5

For those who are confuse, no that’s not Seol-A. She definitely look like one hundred percent like Seol-A from the back but she’s in fact Yu-Ji’s sister, Yu-Na.

x-6

x-7

Okay, that definitely look like Seol-A’s lips and hair though.

x-8

x-9                                     x-10

x-11

And now we really begin with the flashback of a flashback.

x-12

x-13

x-14                               x-15

And that’s Yu-Ji…

x-16

Be warn, this whole chapter is a monologue. And if you cry easily you should probably grab a box of tissue now, because shit is going to get real.

x-17

I probably don’t, so tell me.

x-18

x-19

After what you did? I don’t think anybody in their right mind will be smiling at you either.

x-20

And that’s Yu-Ji’s shadow by the way. She’s doing what a stalker will do, observing from afar.

x-21

x-22

This took me 2 reads to understand what this girl is saying. So already from the beginning she’s planning to ruin her friendship with Seol-A.

x-23

x-24

She’s definitely at the hospital when Seol-A got injure. One is waiting on the other side for someone to come in, the other is waiting on the other side forcing herself not to go in.

x-25                x-26

x-27

In Yu-Ji’s twisted way, she creates a scar in Seol-A’s heart. She wants to break up the relationship she had with Seol-A but she doesn’t want to be a faded memory. By this simple action, I can already determine that Seol-A is not just a simple crush for Yu-Ji.

x-29                      x-30

Girl…

x-31x-32

x-33

I’m surprise that Yu-Ji doesn’t once break down in front of Seol-A. To have one side of her wanting to be Seol-A and another side acting like she doesn’t care, shit just hits the fan.

x-34

x-35

x-36

So you don’t want to hurt Seol-A so you don’t tell her anything but because of your actions you’re actively and directly hurting her. This contradicting action doesn’t add up.

x-37

x-39

x-40

I don’t think Seol-A will ever forget about you because you just make the most stupidest decision ever.

x-41

And that’s the letter that never get send out to Seol-A. Maybe Yu-Na can do the honor and makes a cameo appearance and shows Seol-A the letter, so the latter can let go of her past.

 x-43            x-44

This is fate because everything will fall into places. Things start in Australia and I have a feeling things will end in Australia.

Wrap Up

There is a fine line between love and hate and Yu-Ji is the epitome of that. I don’t know whether I should call her stupid or selfless. I wonder at the last moment before she passes away, does she thinks back of her actions and regret never telling Seol-A on how she feels.

It was kind of obvious to everyone that there was something going on between Seol-A and Yu-Ji, when the latter made an appearance in the chapter. We could sense something was amiss in Yu-Ji in the way she looked at Seol-A but we couldn’t really figure out why she said the things she said in the classroom until now. The hurtful words she said was definitely aim toward Seol-A because she needed to break up the relationship. She feared that the longer they hung out with each other she might not able to control herself. She then set up this whole elaborate plan to create a rift between herself and Seol-A because this way when Seol-A finally walked away from her life, she wouldn’t fade into nothingness. She would become Seol-A’s nightmare and she would always be in Seol-A’s mind. However, her actions and behaviors didn’t match with her thoughts which created extreme anguish that she couldn’t handle (maybe that was why she decided to move to Australia after she graduated so she could escape from all of these or maybe the car accident wasn’t really an accident). So she had to let it out but she couldn’t bear telling Seol-A, she then wrote a letter to the latter but of course it was never send and was discover by her sister in which we now know the reason behind Yu-Ji’s actions. So much twists and turns.

So everything is clear up but there are a couple points that I want to speculate.

“I don’t want to put in all that effort, just to make up an excuse to run with it.”

This sentence implies that she has been planning to break up the relationship for a while now and it’s not done by impulse. So how exactly does she knows Seol-A will come back to grab her stuffs in the classroom? Unless she plans that beforehand but then how does she knows Seol-A will come back? Or does she plans to use that conversation to start a rumor to create a rift between them and later on admit she is using Seol-A when confronted by the latter?

“If possible, I want to become a wound that’s so badly scarred that you’ll be bothered whenever you see it.”

In order for Yu-Ji to have this thought in her head, she must has some preconception that she is really important in Seol-A’s life. I know they’re best friend but when best friends have a fall out, both parties will be hurt but not to the point of someone having a scar in the aftermath. One of them (or both of them) is going to resent and hate the other and regret ever being friend in the first place but… In my opinion, Yu-Ji subconsciously knows she means much more to Seol-A than just a best friend. I feel like the interactions they have together, Yu-Ji can subtlety pick up on Seol-A’s feelings. Maybe the whole reason behind Yu-Ji’s action is not because of her being afraid of Seol-A rejecting her but of her being scared of the backlash of what others will think of her. So in a way, does this means she cares more about herself than Seol-A? She rather put herself and Seol-A in such horrible position than take a 50/50 chance of getting something out it.

In a way, No-Rae and Yu-Ji are similar to each other as in they like to run away from their problem instead of facing head on. Both have feelings for Seol-A and instead of confessing they decide to use harsh words to drive the girl away. Fortunately for No-Rae, Seol-A already experiences this in the past and doesn’t want history to repeat itself, so she decides to go after No-Rae. Unfortunately for Yu-Ji, she is at the right place but wrong time. If things are to work out with Yu-Ji then we don’t have No-Rae. Now, I kinda want a side story of what it will be like if we have a story of Yu-Ji and Seol-A. Maybe Ssamba can create a spin-off of FF. Maybeeee…
