First off, thank you Ssamba for blessing us with this great manhwa, which I’m sure we will spend countless of time reading and fangirling over the 2 characters. I also want to thank the translators and staffs for doing an awesome job because without you guys, I wouldn’t know shit of what I’m reading.

Okay, let’s get started.

Oh, did I mention that this is a yuri manhwa? Well, it is.

Spoiler Alert!!

chapter 7

From where we left off in the last chapter, Seol-A receives a text from the dude, Ji-Hwan, we now have the chapter opening up with the two of them in some kind of cafe. They’re better not be on a date.

Long time friend? Childhood friend?

I know I’ve been a little mean to him for a while but that’s because I don’t know if he’s a threat to the girls’ relationship or not. So I’ve to keep my eyes on him and this one on one chatting is not exactly helping his case. But it seems like the reason he invites Seol-A out is because of the incident at the apartment (where he heard from his friend). Well at first, he looks like he seems to care about how Seol-A is feelings but then…

          7-2                               7-18

It turns out he is actually enjoying all of these and find it fun in lecturing her. He seems to want to push all her wrong buttons to get rile her up.

7-6                 7-7

7-8                 7-9

                     7-10                         7-11

Gosh, he looks scary. He looks like he’s about to murder someone.

I can sense some kind rivalry between the two, like they can’t let each other see their weaknesses. Well, clearly Seol-A shows hers in this one. This scene just confirms more about how Seol-A does care about her image and I have a feeling she definitely doesn’t want the dude to find out about the incident. Now, he is going to rub salts all over her wounds and even try to blackmail her.

7-13         7-14

Dun, dun, dun. I have a feeling that this is a foreshadow that he’s going to use this later on. Oohh, he better use this for a good cause.

Finally, their date comes to an end and the dude is driving Seol-A back home and guess who she notices on her way back? 😉

7-19  7-20  7-21

              7-22                        7-15

He looks like a stalker.

*The next day

7-24      7-25       7-16

Gosh, this dude is everywhere. But from that smile he gives, I can see the wheel is turning in his head. He definitely up to something. ㅎ_ㅎ

We once again start the chapter with the dude, sneaking out from the party of the mt-  smoking. (Minus one brownie point from him, this is personal, smoking is bad for you. No, no.) Then out of nowhere, No-Rae stumbles out, drunk as shit.

8-2               8-3

No-Rae, no matter how much I love you, if you puke on me I’ll drop you like a hot potato. So 10 points to Gryffindor for braving the nasty. No-Rae, you’re lucky you’re surrounded yourself with good people (except her ex).

8-5  8-6  8-7

*End of Flashback

That’s their very first meeting of each other, very awkward, very nasty and very real.

Well, back to reality, we have the dude and No-Rae talking to each other.

They converse about their everyday lives; the dude is back from the military and is enroll in his last semester, No-Rae wants to take things slow and not take so many classes…she’s lazy. Anyway, just background information.

Is there a double meaning to this sentence?

Then, finally Hye-Gyeong comes and picks up her kid and they leave.

8-9                     8-10

Why does your face always make you seem like you’re up to no good?

Anyway, out with one guy, in the next.

       8-12     8-13      8-14

Yeah, I don’t remember your name either. So this guy asks her out for lunch and since she has time to kill, so why not. It’s not like he’s important anyway and she’s bored.

Gosh, can they control themselves? Yeah, me neither.

No-Rae, go get your girl back! What are you doing?! Sigh.

Baek Seol-A is Baek Seol-A; pretty, smart and popular, however, that what others see and what she wants others to see.

8-21           8-22

A date with Hye-Gyeong is fun and all but at the end of the day it is Seol-A that she misses.

And the fact she find out today that Ji-Hwan and Seol-A used to go out with each other, it bothers her. She doesn’t know whyyyyy… but I do. ^^

8-25                              8-26

Sigh. These two girls, playing hide and seek with their feelings.

                9-2                    9-3

The next day, in class, we have our two lovely girls again. Seol-A even brings coffee for No-Rae and Hye-Gyeong. Good job Seol-A, that’s a good way to earn some points. What’s better than hot coffee in the morning? Nothing, I tell ya.

You know, I thought Seol-A is the only one that has it going but Hye-Gyeong just blows my mind this morning. I really like the transformation and that look like a size F. Or is it G?

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Seol-A, you’re killing me.

       9-7          9-8 9-9

Oh, no. No-Rae is not interested in the girly talk. No surprises here. Turn out, Hye-Gyeong has a blind date, not the first time either. I feel like Seol-A and Hye-Gyeong can be great friends if they spend more time together, even No-Rae agrees. Maybe Seol-A gets to have another girl-friend instead of hanging with the guys so much.

Speaking of guys, it seems like almost everyone has a guy around them except maybe… No-Rae?

                9-10                       9-11

Noooo! Kim No-Rae does not need a blind date. She’s perfectly fine and even if she needs one, there is one sitting next to her called Baek Seol-A.

Hye-Gyeong, she doesn’t need to see a man’s charm. ¬_¬

        9-13                 9-14

Oh shit, another reference to No-Rae’s past failed relationship. I have a feeling that is going to be one of the obstacles that No-Rae and Seol-A will have go through in the future.

You really think she live in a cave?

            9-16                 9-17

Seol-A really takes that seriously and tries to set No-Rae up with a guy. Why doesn’t she set No-Rae up with herself, that’s even better.

So one of the reasons that Seol-A goes out with boys is because she doesn’t want to feel lonely? I guess since she doesn’t have much girl-friends, hanging out with guys is the next natural thing.

9-19   9-20   9-21

You sound like you want yourself to be happy but you don’t look happy, No-Rae. It’s okay, Seol-A can give you some TLC.

          9-23                 9-24

Wow, possessive much? I’m kidding. Seol-A keeps doing what you’re doing, No-Rae is enjoying it. 😉

In these 3 chapters, they focus more on background information and characters development. There aren’t many progressions to the girls’ relationship but in a way I like how things are pacing. Readers need to know about these background stories so the characters can become more in-depth and less flat. Ssamba needs to build the world surrounding these characters, so later on in the story, when we’re hit with surprises and decisions; we at least know where they are coming from and why the characters are doing what they’re doing.

So out of 3 chapters, 2 of them involved the dude. Chapter 7 main focus was to let us know about the complexity of Seol-A’s personality and the relationship between her and Ji-Hwan. Based on their banter, I could tell they knew each other for a while and had at least some kind of close relationship. How else would Seol-A just sat there and let the dude talked all over her and Ji-hwan didn’t look like the type to lecture someone if they were close friends of his. Also, from the dialogues exchanged, the dude seemed to know more about Seol-A then she knew about herself. And the fact she didn’t acknowledge her popularity and her easy attitude as a problem was a problem itself.

Chapters 8 and 9 had more of the girls’ relationship progression than the previous chapter. In these chapter, Ssamba once again shown us the different worlds that our main girls were living in. The fact that No-Rae was just an ordinary girl in college while Seol-A was high on a pedestal, admired by many (mainly guys) but somehow the two could come together and became friend. And the facts that each character had their own past and story made them more complex. Reason like this would make it harder for the readers to guess on what each character was to going to do next, was a brilliant move.

Slowly, the two girls will start to have feelings for each other; the small gestures and the worries will start to add up and they will become intertwine with each other’s lives and they will fall for each other before they even know it.
